M.F.A. THESIS COLLECTION
Jewelry has a deep psychological impact with the ability to heal and redirect negative emotions. Exploration of this psychological connection between jewelry and human emotions is a key focus of this collection. Jewelry as a personal object impacts the human psyche by creating a intimate relationship with the wearer. Through juxtaposition with historical enamel techniques and alternative materials with refined craftsmanship, each piece in the collection reflects uniqueness and the complexity of human emotion.
HOPE GARDEN
Since its origin, jewelry has deeply reflected the strong emotions of the human psyche. Humans have worn primitive materials such as animal teeth to show the power and respect of nature or wear sacred talismans to honor their religion. Over time, these pieces have developed across a wide variety of cultures. Jewelry goes beyond conventional adornment by channeling personal emotions and social connections.
Inspiration Story
A child carried depression on their back… the weight was heavy.
Wandering outdoors, the fragrance of flowers was enchanting.
A jasmine tree suddenly appeared.
The sunshine turned the white petals golden.
The breeze carried the sweet fragrance of jasmine like a big hug.
There they stood, sobbing.
Depression still visits the child, but coping is easier.
Now…filled with hope and embracing life; wanting to live.
Stainless Steel Mesh Jasmine Flower
I choose the jasmine flower symbolizes the promise of happiness. The choice of translucent white represents the alleviation of depression, anxiety, and irritability. Stainless steel mesh is a special material with the texture of fabric yet durability of metal, much like the softness and strength of human emotions. The combination of the gray mesh and white jasmine depicts integration of suffering and happiness experienced in life.
