The streetlight represents safety. When I come home late, I always feel at ease when walking on the road with light.

It represents warmth. In the first 19 years of my dark life, my mother, teachers, and close friends were like a small light that kept me from being consumed by negative emotions.

It represents direction; it can’t point the way like the Big Dipper, but it can show you the path in front of you, or you have other options.

It represents a warning, a reminder for those who came before you to follow.

 

It represents hope.
